Christmas Number 1

Angele Toomey Avatar

It’s definitely the holiday season! I can tell because the urge to wear noise cancelling headphones when shopping always peaks in the first 3 weeks of December.

I am sure I’ll post more yule-tide themed poems over the next wee while, here is one fresh from the editing suite:

Christmas
The half finished
embroidery lies
where it was placed
in the wicker basket.
An ancient coffee stain
holds onto the side table.
The room that no-one
walks into anymore:
Disturbingly undisturbed,
the moment frozen in time
under years of dust.
There is a Christmas tree
in the corner.
It's brittle fingers hold onto
crumbling decorations,
waiting for the children
to return.
