This poem was inspired at approximately 8.45 this morning, as I set out to run some errands. Unusually for me, I decided to turn the radio on. It was 80s day, familiar tunes gently filled the quiet spaces in the car.
After a big hair pop ‘n roll band finished their final countdown or wasting sugar, on came Talking Heads and their song “Road to Nowhere”.

It got me thinking about all the busyness in our lives and how pointless most of it is, and as they say- the rest is herstory!
Empty Destiny Tidal beings, we ebb and flow, running in circles with nowhere to go. Blind to the larger forces that shape our lives, our choices steered by currents we cannot name. Inbuilt instincts, pre-programmed patterns, corporations’ quiet manipulations pull the levers we cannot see. A train, a bus— the paths of our days dictated by agendas foreign to our knowing, yet deciding if we arrive or remain adrift. We have built a world of vast emptiness, a landscape of the weathered soul, where lives are worn thin, edges eroded, ill-fated yet enduring.
