The life of a Showgirl

Angele Toomey Avatar

Dancing til my feet bled

Routines to be perfected

On the beat

Done with ease

Freeze that smile.

Weighed on my birthday

So I wouldn’t stray

No cake for me

Count each calorie

Keep that smile.

Costumes as uniforms

I had to conform

To punters demands

And the producer’s commands

Wear that smile.

Yes it was the life of a showgirl

And fanfare, flag to unfurl

Never the show ponies

Working for mere pennies

Remember my smile.
