Haiku

This morning as I finished my super strong Jeds coffee I was hoping to feel the caffeine start to work its magic. I wanted to be bright and sparky for day two of the conference (you will recall yesterday’s Origins post was inspired by it).

But I realised that no amount of coffee will help me today – I need to manage my work and obligations through bursts of activity followed by rest. The haiku seems to be the form of poetry that best matches the ebb and flow of my energy today.

Today's mail
The postal system
will move millions of letters,
but none are for me.

Roses for love
Last weeks' roses wilt
petals may drop to the ground
but the love goes on.

Long covid
Two years of trying
to escape the long embrace
of claims it's a hoax.
