Strolling through Aston Norwood Gardens today was lovely, and a tad inspiring! The huge temperature deviations in the Artic and Antarctic are just one more alarm that we seem to want to sleep through.
First falls
Dappled light
catches for a
second
a golden reminder
of the summers we've had.
Lost on the first
stirrings of
colder air
by an oak
too old
to recall all the cycles
but aware
that they have
grown stranger
these more recent years.
The leaves
will fall
like confetti soon
but for today I
can see
individuals
in descent
to the floor.
And I wonder
about our rise and fall
and how long
we will last for.
