Angele Toomey Poetry

If you have read 3 or 4 of my poems before you will know that I often reference particular muses or inspirations. One of the common sources of inspiration is nature, another is love (in its many iterations). Today’s offering was inspired by my Number 1 muse, my wife. So yes, this is an apologetic love poem.

Understanding
I want to know your stories
to be inside your head
know your world
hear your voice

I want to walk through your memories
see the colours
feel the textures
the moments when it all came true
when you maxed out your bid,
knowing you'd lose

I want to want to walk in your shoes
take the journey towards the light
when you fell from great height
as the parapet crumbled

I want to know your stories
to remember how defeat became victory
to understand how you found me.
